Is anyone’s PLE crashing when attempting to create a delete function on Groups? Happens on an empty project and also my 300MB template after doing a macro to delete unused instruments.
I’m essentially looking to delete folder groups with a macro whenever they may be unused or empty for example. Works fine with standard folders but folder groups are throwing up some issues with crashing.

Hi,
Could you please attach the *.ips file?
Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).
HI Martin!
I seem to be able to find a .diag file form there, but not .ips, are they the same?
Hi,
Unfortunately they are not the same. I would need an *.ips file to be able to resolve it.
If Cubase crashes, it points to the given crash file during the next start in the Safe Start Mode window. This is the one I need.
Sorry, looks like they are in an additional folder within Diagnostic Reports called “Retired”, Here is one:

Hi,
I’m sorry, it’s still not the file.
Are you in the user Library, please? To get there, hold down the Opt, click to Go > Library in the Finder.
Hi Martin,
That’s strange, I was absolutely in the user Library, as the same directory without Opt does not have any .ips files:
Without Opt (Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and also Retired) :
With Opt (Users/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports and also Retired):
Is it possible that the .ips file lives in another location that’s not in Retired?
Hi,
I’m sorry, I’m not aware of any other location. As this comes from the system (macOS), it cannot live in other location.
Thanks Martin.
I have a Windows 10 machine that I can transfer the license, attempt to replicate and if so, see if I can provide the correct file from there. Do you know the directory of what is needed on a Windows OS?
Hi,
With Cubase 15, you have 3 seats available. So you don’t have to transfer the license. You can just open the 2nd seat for your Windows machine.
- Win: %userprofile%/Documents/Steinberg/Crash Dumps
Thank you!
Try this one, issue replicated on MacBook Pro M5 running Tahoe 26.0:
.ips was located directly in DiagnosticReports this time, looks like Apple changed the directory at some point between OS12 and now.
Hi,
I’m sorry, but it’s still not the *.ips I would need to be able to resolve it.
Where did you get this file? Isn’t it present in the Console?
- Mac: macOS Console utility > Crash Reports
Hi,
It’s present in the console and when I show in Finder, it leads me to the same place:
Hi,
Thank you! I will try to upload it to the Steinberg’s bugs-tracking-system and will see, if it will be working.

Hi,
I have just realised, you are on macOS 12, right?
That might be an issue. Cubase 15 is compatible with macOS 14, 15 and 26 only.
Hi,
As I have mentioned, I’ve replicated this with 15.0.20 using OS26.0. Happy to try on Windows 10 too to see if it happens there.
I tried your steps on Win 10 with Cubase 15.0.20 but have no crash.
When I click Apply nothing happens.
