Please Fix custom color UI!

So I offer you help and then you start to tell me how to offer you help. That’s not going to happen. I’ll leave it to others here to make further suggestions.

To be honest, I also didn’t quite get where your problem lies. What is not working exactly?
You have defined a new project color set. Now you have to apply it to any old project that you load (including templates) by clicking “Reset Color Set to Default”.

You already imported your ‘track color scheme’ earlier. It does not magically overwrite every existing project you already have. Now you go open each project individually and change them to your new track colors.

Sorry, but this IS all in the manual. When you’re paying $500+ for a product, you should probably sit down and actually learn how to use it at some point. Coming in here throwing attitude at VOLUNTEERS trying to help you is not going to get you a whole lot of hand holding around here.

I have been using Steinbergs Notation software Dorico for 3-4 years now. And the so-called manual as Steinberg calls it, does not help at all. I just checked the dictionary and here is the definition of a Software Manual: “Manual means the written documentation containing detailed instructions pertaining to the use of the Software”. In my understanding that means the manual should take you through steps to get you to a desired result.
What I have seen from the Cubase manual up till now, confirms to me that it has the same issue. It tells you what the program can do, but it does not take you through the steps to get to the desired result.
And I do appreciate the volunteers. But my experience with what Steinberg calls a manual is that it is just flat out nonsense. It has absolutely nothing to do with a manual.
If I offended anyone I am sorry.

Since you have an aversion toward the manual, there is also this data base of cubase tutorials.

Enjoy.

Cubase is a very feature-rich and deep DAW.

Fwiw, Chris color scheme works just fine.

Yes. Maybe that is his issue?

Regarding your opinion of the Cubase manual, my opinion is that it is relatively good. It certainly could be better. But compared to other manuals, I think it’s fairly good and detailed.

If you have properly imported Chris “Track Color Scheme” then your next step is to go to each and every project and change them to the new track colors. Obviously, downloading a color scheme and using it, is not something I do very often because of all that work of changing tracks for every project. However some schemes are pretty close to other schemes, so that is not always the case.

If this is not your issue, the I have no idea what the problem is. If you appreciate volunteers, it’s not so much “offending anyone” or me at least, its simply that I have less motivation to help.

Thank you for your answer. It is much appreciated.
And the more I think about it, I realize I might have made an error when importing the color scheme from Mixdown-online.
I will find out tomorrow.
And I am trying to take the time to learn the program properly. I paid good money for the software and the course at Thinkspace, to not rush headless into a project making all kinds of mistakes.
I have come to like how Steinberg does things (aside for their manuals) and have more or less decided to stick to their products from now on.
And this forum is the best I have ever experienced. So you can call me a fan.

A user manual is not the same as training/instruction/coaching.

User manuals are geared at individuals who have the required subject area knowledge including a considerable grasp of relevant terminology.

In the case of Cubase, the manual won’t teach audio physics, audio engineering concepts and workflows, MIDI, computer hardware and software (including operating system) concepts and operations. etc.

A user manual could always be better.

A user could always be smarter, more articulate, humbler, kinder, …

These instructions will save colours that are applied to Tracks and Events on those tracks.
This topic is about the GUI colours, which are set in the general Preferences dialog.
The two are separate functions/features.

Colour schemes don’t bother too much, as long as they’re not too bright, but I do think Cubase’s handling of colours could be improved.
FWIW, I have a Project colour set that has about 60 entries, and covers everything I have ever used. GUI schemes - I have a few of those saved in the Preferences - green, maroon, blue, grey…
