Please give us back the eventgain node in the middle of the event

It is often the case that the New can complement the Old - ie, keep the old along with the new, no messing with prefs, and everybody’s happy.

I still don’t want permanent gain icons all over my Audio Events though and that would require a new visibility preference.
The previous Audio Event node would only appear once the mouse was hovered on top of a Audio Event., much cleaner.

Does the preference Show Event Names also affect this icon?
I believe this setting shows/hides both the Event/Part name and all the Event/Part icons.
I personally wish those were two separate settings.

I’m not sure as the gain icon on the Audio Events is new in Cubase v14. Need someone with Cubase v14 to verify that. I agree with you that two separate preference settings would be better.

No, the Show Event Names setting does not affect the Event Volume icon in Cubase 14.

Indeed. I personally never name MIDI parts and would prefer to not have it shown on every part. I would however like to see if a part is a ghost copy or is locked e.g.
The manual is also misleading. There is no mention of these status icons. It states:

Show Event Names
Shows the names on parts and events.

In that scenario, I feel your pain.

No updates still?

after some time now, I don’t miss it… that is all. Thanks, Steinberg.

That’s a good idea - ctrl+drag or something would be a nice solution.

In my experience, once a feature is removed or changed, it never comes back.

Same here, actually. I am really greatful for the new event volume functions that this had become a minor drawback for my (personal) workflow by now. However, the idea to access the old handle with a modifier key seems to be a really elegant solution.

Long time ago, when I was a bus driver, I gave up lunch (just a sandwich) for Lent. Never had lunch since.
You can get used to most lacks, given enough time.

So we are all just Pavlov’s Producers… ? Good to know.

Conditioned by the handle in this case. I hope this dreadful drooling will stop one day. Clients are not happy about it.

This better…

Just saying that not missing something after being without it for a while doesn’t make it OK. The Preferences (Windows version) shifted from the File menu to the Edit menu (for no apparent reason) and it took me a year to get used to it. Menu accelerators were removed (although 14 saw their return), again, a long time to get used to it. Loop Mash, gone. Prologue, gone.
I, for one, do not like my behaviour being forcibly changed, especially for no apparent gain or reason.
Hey, I’m beginning to rant. Time to have my afternoon lie down.

I don’t want to get used to additional icons on my audio events and a in-accessible audio event gain control on certain audio event lengths…

I want a new preference setting to change the icon visibility behavior and I want a accessible gain control on par with how it previously functioned.

With the new 14.0.20 update, the modifier key (CTRL+SHIFT on Windows, Command+Option on macOS) for modify event(s) volume/gain is finally a perfect move for who regret the old node volume/gain !
No need to have the range tool selection active for this !

yep, this is brilliant

This looks promising indeed… will be upgrading later tonight…

OK, that’s right, but now you need three fingers to get what was before a single click with the mouse…that’s really strange.
