Please Help I'm desperate here!

Hi all
I bought a yamaha MG10XUF from a shop in Madrid, and after a day decided to return it, easy right? No. (I live 200 miles away). They won’t accept return until “I get proof from Steinberg that Cubase code wasn’t activated”…I didn’t even know there was a Cubase code, so no worries there… (They won’t take it on good faith from a long-time repeat customer that I haven’t activated anything)
My problem is, Steinberg don’t reply to support, I even called them in Germany, nothing… (Yes have opened a support ticket, sat here waiting… and waiting…), trouble is, this can’t go on forever, it’s been 10 days now, and I only have 30 days to return it, otherwise am sat with a mixing desk I don’t want, and €300 out of pocket..
Anyone any helpful suggestions, any numbers I can call, anything where someone will actually answer?
Many thanks if you can help!

I am not a lawyer but I think this shop can’t ask a customer to get some “proof”. Can’t you get some legal advice? I am definetly not a huge fan to take this sort of route but in this case…
Moreover, it might very well take more than 20 days to get any confirmation or proof and I am not sure if Steinberg will be delighted.

Have you considered contacting your local Yamaha support in Spain?

This is how they do things in Spain, too many people have bought products, used the software code, then returned the product..
I got an email from Steinberg yesterday and sent them a photo of the cubase code, so it’s moving forward at least. Thank you"

Ah, I didn’t know that this is a thing in Spain.
Thanks for the update and I’m very happy to hear that Steinberg responded so quickly.

Good luck!

Thanks all, Steinberg did answer me after I reached out on Instagram. The Spanish shop accepted the return, IF (and get this) I organised the transport company AND paid the shipping return (€25).
Moral of this story, in Spain at least, NEVER buy from shops, and ALWAYS buy from Amazon, even if it means shops close down everywhere, only themselves to blame.

Hmmm, are you sure you’re in Spain? All this… sounds familiar.

Haha yes mate, the worst place in the world for retail, business etc. I really hope Amazon closes all these shops and the useless, miserable “client service” people are out of work.
