Pls Help: How to connect 2 pc via midi

Hello,
I’ve been haveing this huge problem connecting my pc and laptop via midi and maybe you guys can help.

What i’m trying to achive is : I want a midi signal (let’s say C0)from cubase to start a laser animation in Quickshow. I managed to do this on the same pc but really want to keep cubase on 1 pc and quickshow on the other for safety reasons.

But basicly what i need to understand is how to make the 2 pc communicate with eachother via midi and then i can make the settings myself. My logic was to use 2 midi interface (midisport 1x1 , and Midimate ex ) and connect them together ( Midimate usb connect to laptop, midi in/out in Midisport 1x1 , and Midisport 1x1 usb connect to the pc). Well it dosn’t work.

I’m useing windows on both pc - laptop is win 7 pc is win 10.

It should work the way you described. Try the Out to In or Out to Out combinations, please. Some vendors are still marking the connectors against the standard, as a destination.

Be aware, you will get pretty big jitter because of two USB ports.
