Plug-in Manager missing External Plug-in folder add option

I see no option to add my external hard drive that has all my plugins when I open plug-in manager. It used to be in the bottom left or bottom right. I only see plug-in report.

VST3 plugins have a predetermied path. So you must be talking about VST2 plugins.
Power on VST2 support first, then you will get the button back.

Not looking for V2. Looking for folders to my VST 3 plugins. Not in the C Drive, but in my external hard drive.

Click the tiny i in the bottom left corner and choose your path to your hard drive. Then choose refresh at the top.

It looks like I also misunderstood where my VST 3 folders are being referenced from. I’ve always moved most of my VST 3 plugins to a separate hard drive, even if they were initially installed into the Programs and common folders.

The little “i” icon only shows information about a selected plugin -not access to adding plugin paths. apparently I have been using what Nuendo sees as a VST2 folder to hold my VST 3 packages.

I like to arrange my VST folders by EFX, Synths, Drums,… that way I can navigate to a specific folder for updates or troubleshooting.

Hit the “+” button and you can add a path.

All VST3 plugins on Windows must be installed here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

Within this folder you can work with subfolders to create your own structure.
If the plugins come with sample libraries or preset files, those can be installed anywhere where the plugins likes them to be.

The path settings are only for VST2 plugins. This is also indicated by the name of this section “VST 2 Plug-in Path Settings”.
