Seemingly random plugins can’t be used in cubase pro 14.
Symptom: I load, or have previously loaded a plugin ( from a saved project
on any plugin slot. The plugin shows up, but it is not lit or activated (see image). You can do nothing with the plugin, it is completely locked out. You can’t remove it either. All my plugins are updated, and have worked absolutely fine until just recently. I have used them for quite a while. I have nothing in my blocked list and I have tried turning on vst2 (even though these plugins are not vst2)
The plugins most affected are:
SoundID
Sonible
Izotope
Most of the time they are now unusable. I’m wondering if it is an ilock thing but there is no complaint about licences being off, and I have checked my drive and account, and I see no problem there. And I get NO crashdumps anymore.
I am sorry, but for me Cubase 14 pro has not been a great upgrade, since I have constant crashes, freezes and problems like this, as I have talked about in other topics. If you don’t have any problems, then lucky you, but it doesn’t help me.
Cubase crashes/freezes at least once a day. Usually second start. A new thing that I discovered today is that is tries to go into safe mode but fails there as well. Komplete Kontrol doesn’t work on second project as I have said before.
Anyone know of a DAW that is similar to Cubase that actually works? (I am starting to get serious about this question…)
I have tested all this in Reaper with NO issues. It all works, but unfortunately Reaper cannot replace Cubase at this stage, no way.
Windows 11 (pretty new install and with latest updates)
64 RAM
i5 12th generation
All SSDs
Nvidia RTX 4060
It seems like you have tried a lot of things recently - you mentioned other threads regarding issues with C14.
Can you give us a quick overview what you have tried so far?
For me also, cubase 14 has a lot of bugs, no answer for support, The excitement from the upgrade replaced by disappointment, i’ve already download trial of ableton, hope the transition will be smooth.
Fabio. I think you are right. And do I feel like a fool.
It doesn’t explain my others issues, but that was my bad. I should know better. I was working on a big track and I love that feature. Oh well
If yes, feel free to PM me the crash-dumps / freezedumps, I’ll have a look.
Just speculation at this point, but I suspect MIDI → if you’re using WinMIDI, please try to switch to WinRT… but if you have dumps, I’d wait and check the dumps before changing anything
Thanks Fabio! I use WinRT. no difference I am afraid, a part from that my Korg NanoKey doesn’t work anymore.
Yes, I have tried that. I have also tried numerous other things that I can think of, messing with most settings and drivers I can think of.
The problem with the crashdumps is that this forum only allows 4 MB, and most of the dumps are at least 5 MB. And lately, there are very few dumps generated, The freeze makes everything stop working, including my audio card and so cubase has no chance of generating even the crashdump. Despite having reinstalled EVERYTHING including windows I was suspecting some kind of system corruption, but then again, Reaper has none of the issues mentioned with the same plugins, drivers, hardware etc.
I am wondering if a USB hub could be the culprit? I have a lot of various interfaces plugged in that cubase uses, including an external SSD (I have internal ones too) I don’t really know how I can check it though. I have felt that I sometimes get odd behavior from some of the USBs connected, meaning they don’t always “load” (and I sometimes have to go into “services” to make sure that Komplete Kontrol starts.
All my USBs that needs extra power has it, and the computer hasn’t given me any warnings.
Hi @samueltornqvist, thank you! That crash is in Komplete Kontrol (see call-stack below, it points to the VST3 component).
If and when you have time, you could also zip some dumps, upload them to DropBox, WeTransfer or whatever you use and send me the link. Would be interesting to see if there’s more at play.
Yes, the Komplete Kontrol is a mystery that NI don’t understand either. I have been aware of that one for about three months. Crashes every time I open up a second project (without closing cubase) that contains Komplete Kontrol instruments. But it seems to be more at play than just Komplete Kontrol when it comes to the freezing.
Actually, zipping the dumps reduces the file. I didn’t think of that… Here it is:
