maybe i am overlooking something but i cannot find the dedicated vst plugin paramters for mapping to a midi control surface.
However they are available via “Studio Setup - Generic Remote → and then Device Vst Mixer - in channel i choose the plugin and then all the individual paramters are available via Value / Action…
But it says “The Setup on this page is going to be discontinued. Please use the Midi Remote in the lower zone of the Project Window.
When i try to set it up there i cant find those individual plugin params.
The first method is to directly control the target’s parameters. In the Functions Browser, the parameters are displayed neutrally and numbered. Eight are predefined, and more can be added using === Setup ===. Parameters can be assigned to an element of the Controller Surface via “Apply Mapping”. Which parameter of the target is actually controlled depends on the selected track and the target selected within it. Instrument plugins, Insert Effect plugins and the Internal Strip Effects are available as targets. The nature of the parameters (# 1, 2, 3, etc.) in different plugins depends on the plugin type and its implemented parameter list. Parameter 1 in a Reverb plugin might be the Reverb Duration, while Parameter 1 in a Compressor plugin could be the Threshold Value.
The second method is Focus Quick Controls. This allows for indirect control of the plugin parameters, as each of a plugin’s eight Quick Controls can be assigned to any parameter. As with direct parameter control, the control always affects the currently selected target.
As far as i understand it corrextly the 2 methods described dont allow to control parameter while on a different track unless focus mode is locked or quick controls are set up for that channel.
I would love to achieve to control parameters in a fx send channel and also synth parameter on the track which is playing at the same time and kinda lock them to specific knobs or faders.
It is a bit sad since it seems the Generic Remote seems to achieve this more easily and also exposes the parameter names more clearly although it seems to be discontinued. I would expect therfore the new Mapping assistent to at least have the same functionality as the Generic Remote.
So far i was unsuccesful to map to instrument parameters. Nothing happened.
So i wonder how long generic remote is still there? Will it be discontiniued already in the next update?
Thanks for your reply. As stated above i have no luck with the paramterers. first of all it would be super nice if the names would be exposed as it seems possible in the studio setup. I tried with the stock shimmer plugin. How can i know which parameter would be “feedback” for example? in the studio setup it shows up under position 8 so i guessed it could be paramter 8 but no sucess.
