POLL: How do you, personally, view an already open yet hidden effect window?

elzouzou, if the vst window is open but hidden, and you click e the first time, you won’t see anything happen… it’ll just close the window in the background. The second click of e will reopen the window in a visible state again. If you aren’t seeing this behavior, there is something quite wrong with your installation.

All plugins are always on top, so I never have this problem.

I was getting tired of clicking e-e every single time so I wrote a simple autohotkey script. It is not perfect but it is something.

You just need to change “e” with “shift+e” in Key Commands to make it work. The downside now is that when you are typing “e” in a SteinbergWindowClass (i.e. when you want to rename a track or save presets), to every “e” is now added a “E”. To avoid this I added another hotkey (ALT+e) that disables the first one.

So you are no longer using the mouse for the e-e click, and are simply pressing e on the keyboard? Or no…

yes, that’s exactly how it works. It’s to avoid pressing “e” another time when the window is hidden.

This way I never need to close the channel settings window, I just hide it by left-clicking on the project editor / mixer.

+1 for the prioritised single e click to open.

And why does CB hide all my open sub-windows (VST/VSTi’s etc) when CB loses focus. Most annoying on a multi-monitor setup where I go over to, for instance a help file on a 4th monitor, but I cannot see my CB layout while I’m focused on the help file.

Just daft. Please change it. I can see ZERO reason for this behaviour.
