polymeter and double bar lines?

Suppose you have one staff in 3/4 and another in 4/4. And you want a double bar line at the end of the second bar of the 4/4 staff. That won’t line up with a bar boundary in the 3/4 staff. If add a double bar anyway, the double bar line goes through all the systems, including the 3/4 staff not at a bar boundary.

If you want a double bar line in JUST the 4/4 staff (and leave the 3/4 staff alone), how would you do that?

Thanks!

Use the Bars popover and type ||, then close it using Alt-Enter.

Alt is a common modifier for independent elements on staves.

Thanks, that works for the top staff. But I don’t seem to be able to do that to any staves below the top one…

Have you assigned an independent time signature to those other staves? That’s a requirement for independent barlines, and I forgot to mention it.

Yes, independent time signatures, but still no luck.

Before typing Shift+B to open the Bars popover, are you invoking the caret on the stave where you want the barline to appear?

Yes!

In that case, as per the guidelines here (Four simple guidelines to help us help you - Dorico - Steinberg Forums) we’re going to need to see the project.
