Poor synchronisation of notes in swing time

Truly, I’m at my wit’s end here, any and all help in resolving the issue outlined below would be much appreciated. I’ve spent three full days this week trying to troubleshoot problems with very little progress to show for it.

The specific problem concerns the playback alignment of the A9sus chord (keyboard part).

(Keyboard part)

In the Play editor, I can clearly see, and hear in playback, that the left hand is triggering earlier than the right, even though this shouldn’t be the case.

Curiously, similar passages elsewhere don’t exhibit the same problem.

Is this a known issue? Independent voice playback is enabled. The issue persists even if I delete and paste back the notes.

From the looks of it I’d say, that the left hand is straight 8s?

How so? Is there a tempo/feel change somewhere? Hidden signpost?

For sure, the left hand is playing swing, and there only one indication in the score.

The troublesome playback alignment is at 10.5 seconds:

If I delete the tie on the A9sus chord in bar 21 (left hand), playback becomes perfectly aligned. This suggests to me that the issue is likely a bug.

I wouldn’t mind checking it out, could you maybe post just those 2-3 bars as a Project file?

With thanks to @YourMusic.Pro for verifying the issue, and in case this is helpful to others working in swing time, Daniel confirms there is a playback bug at work here.

Dorico is not correctly detecting the case where an off-beat note longer than the swing duration is preceded by a rest.

Daniel suggests the following workaround:

In the meantime, you could consider disabling swing for that bar using the Shift+T popover and Alt+Enter to create a rhythmic feel change on just that instrument. You could then fix up the positions of the notes in the Key Editor, and re-enable swing in the following bar with another local rhythmic feel change..

As ever, the helpfulness and responsiveness of the dev team is stellar.
