Portable DAC & Headphone Amplifier USB Dongle instead audio interface

Hi! Anyone know if I can use audiophile USB DAC dongle instead audio interface for playback/recording internal AUv3 plugin instruments only (DAC dongles don’t have inputs for audio recording) with Cubasis on ipad? I would use DAC dongle to connect headphones to. Like this Fiio one here:

Will it be for sure recognized in Cubasis as audio device and what about latency? Will it be acceptable (from the moment I start playing/recording internal AUv3 plugin instruments with Cubasis on-screen keyboard or with external MIDI keyboard)? Thanks!

Hi,

Cubasis for iOS supports class-compliant audio devices. For specific compatibility questions regarding a DAC like the FiiO KA13, we recommend contacting the hardware manufacturer directly.

In general, for the best experience and full functionality, we recommend using regular class-compliant audio interfaces that provide inputs and outputs.

Best,
Lars
