Possible Bug in the “Move Left by 1 Bar” Keyboard Shortcut

I would like to report a possible issue with the “Move Left by 1 Bar” keyboard shortcut in Cubase 15.0.5 on Windows 10.

The shortcut frequently moves the cursor 2 bars to the left instead of 1.
When pressing the shortcut repeatedly, it only works correctly if I leave approximately a 1-second interval between key presses.

This behavior did not occur in Cubase 14 or earlier.
I have already tried resetting the user preferences and reassigning the shortcut, but the issue still remains.

Since the “Move Right by 1 Bar” shortcut functions normally, I believe this may be a bug specific to Cubase 15.0.5.

If anyone has encountered the same issue or knows of a workaround, I would appreciate any information.

Thank you.

Environment

  • Product: Cubase Pro

  • Version: Cubase 15.0.6

  • OS: Windows11

  • Keyboard: Standard keyboard (reproducible without key repeat)

Description

When assigning “Move Cursor Left by Bar” to a key (e.g. N), the cursor sometimes moves 2 bars instead of 1.

This behavior occurs consistently when the key is pressed quickly, even with a single tap (not holding the key).

In contrast, “Move Cursor Right by Bar” (e.g. assigned to M) always moves exactly 1 bar, regardless of how fast the key is pressed.

This results in asymmetric and unpredictable bar-based navigation.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Assign a key (e.g. N) to “Move Cursor Left by Bar”.

  2. Assign a key (e.g. M) to “Move Cursor Right by Bar”.

  3. Place the cursor somewhere inside a bar (not exactly on the bar start).

  4. Press N quickly (single fast press).

Expected Result

  • The cursor should always move exactly 1 bar to the left.

  • Left and right bar navigation should behave symmetrically.

Actual Result

  • “Move Cursor Left by Bar” jumps 2 bars to the left when triggered quickly.

  • “Move Cursor Right by Bar” always moves 1 bar and never shows this behavior.

Notes

  • This is not caused by OS key repeat:

    • The issue occurs with quick single presses.

    • The right-direction command does not behave the same way.

  • The issue seems related to how Cubase internally handles bar boundaries when moving left.

Impact

Fast navigation during editing becomes unreliable and inconsistent.
