Possible bug: Tie missaligned both vertically and horizontally

Note how the tie in the 2nd bar is misplaced compared to the others.

I think this is the expected behaviour. In the second bar the tie has to be displaced to the right to avoid the notehead on the downstem note. The involvement of the downstem note means that the tie is treated as being a tie on a chord, instead of a tie on a single note. The tie in the first bar is treated as a tie on a single note, which means (if you’re using the default options) that it would normally be positioned above/below the centre of the notehead. This is what displaces it upwards, though of course the stem is in the way so it can’t be moved horizontally.

If you change this option:

then the two bars will look the same.

I disagree.

First, I don’t want ties between notheads.

Second, there is nothing that differs bars 1 and 2 as to contents. It is 2 separate voices.

But wasn’t the point of @Mats_Frendahl’s post that there is no issue in simple triple time unlike the original post in simple duple?

I wholeheartedly agree. The notation in the original post is confusing and cannot be considered correct.

The passage in the OP is with half notes. @Mats_Frendahl used the example with dotted notes to show that the ties are left alone then. I agree that the example in the OP is not desirable, not only from an aesthetic point of view but also because it becomes ambiguous to what note the start of the tie is attached.

I also agree that this is misleading — it looks like the tie has been broken and this is another slur or phrase marking. If you reverse the voice column indices, the tie aligns correctly (as it does when the voices are not a second apart). It is only an interval of a second (without augmentation) when the misalignment occurs.
