Possible to create a custom graphical symbol that can change the tempo?

I would like to create a tempo change graphical symbol, but cannot find a way to do this. Is this possible?

I don’t believe this is possible, but what you could do is create a custom playing technique for the symbol you want in the score, then draw in the tempo changes in the Tempo track (which creates the relevant tempo changes, but only as signposts so they don’t appear in the music).
