Losing my mind…
Using trim automation. I raise the value of the slider, the trim value goes up. Let go of the slider, and the channel slider returns to the zero trim position, but the on screen (volume track) value of the trim stays at the maximum of the slider. I raise the slider again, and the trim starts from the previous maximum slider and goes up from there.
There are no fill modes on.
Cubase 6.5, 64 bit. ANY ideas?

How would you expect Trim Mode to work?
BTW, I should have mentioned that I was referring to Touch Mode with Trim. Picture below should explain:
[]Bar 49 - push up the fader
[]Bar 50 - release the fader, fader snaps to trim zero position, but trim line is still raised
[]Bar 51 - push up the fader
[]Bar 52 - release the fader, fader snaps to trim zero position, but trim starts from the level set at bar 49.
I would swear that it didn’t used to work that way. And if it did, I can’t see what practical application it would have.
