When searching for Dorico tips, I frequently find helpful responses which include what appear to be direct hyperlinks to the exact page in the online Dorico manual. However, clicking on those links in Firefox browser (152.0.3) and in Chrome browser (149.0.7827.158 (Official Build) (x86_64)) simply takes me to the front cover page of the manual, NOT to the relevant page/entry. This, of course, makes it nearly impossible to find what I need.
I tried copying the linked url into a word processor app, and then pasting into the browser, with no effect. However, I could thereby watch in real time as the browser re-directs itself from the link I posted to the generic “Here’s the start of the manual” url!
For example, I copied the first link (an image bc I was unable to include a link in this post), but I always get sent to the second link, instead:

Does the same thing in Edge.
As you can see from the links, it is an old version of the documentation. It’s possible that it’s been reorganized since then.
If I change the “v4” to “v6”, then it works as expected.
You can always get to the Help pages for your version directly from the Help menu, and then by typing in the subject.
Yes that’s correct – documentation for older versions of Dorico (ie versions that are no longer officially supported) is now archived, in the sense that the PDFs will remain available, but the online webhelp will not.
There are various reasons for this, including technical ones relating to how we’ve updated the documentation portal, but also practical ones (the more varieties there are, the more confusing it is to navigate around them all, and we wanted to increase the ease of landing in the latest manual).
Links embedded in forum posts are hard-coded and not automatically updated: if the comment containing the link is from 3+ years ago, there’s a good chance it may no longer be valid! (But in the fast-paced world of Dorico development, there’s always a chance that the advice is outdated anyway, because an amazing new feature has been added in the meantime…)
If in doubt: just ask! Add a new comment on the thread asking if the advice is still the best, or where the latest manual link is, and you’ll probably get a swift response to help you.
