pre fader not working

I have a project in which I have a couple inserts with plugins in them, they are both in a pre fader slot, when I turn down the fader… nothing. Please help! :cry:

What exactly do you mean by the result “nothing”, please? What is your expectation?

No sound from that channel at all, I expect to hear the output of the inserted plugin.

Hi,

There cannot be a signal. The signal path is:

  • Source > Insert Effect > Processed signal > Fader.

So the Fader affects the signal, even the processed one.

What is your use case? What do you want to achieve?

Hi,

Use Send (Pre-Fader) and route it to the FX Channel. Apply the Insert plug-ins at the FX Channel.

Thanks Martin I did that (must have been a senior moment). What effect does pre/post fader have on an insert?
