Pre-Gain Issue. N13 and N12

Sometimes when adjusting the Pre-Gain (E button) on a track nothing actually happens, even if I sweep the horizontal slider from -00dB to maximum +48dB the audible level remains unchanged. This happens with standalone tracks, tracks within a Group and Group channels themselves. I’ve scanned the documentation but can find no explanation for this behaviour. Does anyone know why this happens?

Some tracks work as expected - some don’t.

It’s a new ai feature. If it doesn’t think a certain track is helping your song, it won’t let you boost the gain.

That makes sense, although if it were true I might not be able to adjust the gain on any of the tracks! :grinning:

All joking apart, any suggestions on why this problem is occurring will be much appreciated. I can’t figure it out.

Just a shot in the dark, you might already know …
The “pre” section can be bypassed, which is not displayed very obvious when active (in my opinion)…
Are you sure, that the “pre” section is turned on/unbypassed when this happens?

Cheers,
Dirx

Thanks for the suggestion. You are right about it not being very obvious. The [Pre] button only seems to affect the High-Cut and Low-Cut controls - it does not appear to control the Pre-Gain slider nor the Phase switch on the Channel Settings screen which seem to be active all the time. I’m beginning to think my problem might relate to worn motorised faders on my Tango control surface (replacements in the post). I also have a vague idea that it might also relate to Mono tracks being grouped together. Still digging.

Ah, dang, should have tested it myself before posting, you are right, gain is not bypassed…

Good luck for troubleshooting!
