Pre-stretched sample reverts to original tempo when imported into Sampler Track

When it comes to chopping drum breaks, my preferred methodology would be as follows

  • import the song into an audio track
  • isolate the break and trim the clip to the start/end of the break using the timestretch selection tool
  • tempo match the break to the project tempo by timestretching it to the grid for however many bars it is supposed to be
  • import into sampler track and use slice mode to create chops

However, when I do this and import the time-adjusted sample to a Sampler Track, the sample plays at the original tempo! Why does it do this? I have explicitly stretched the clip to the grid. I’m confused as to why it would just discard these changes. Is there some setting that I am missing in the Sampler Track? How can I get the audio clip to import into the Sampler Track as intended?
