Currently, there is a preference ‘Range Selection Follows Track Selection’,
but it only works from within the process of selecting tracks, not if you already have tracks selected.
I’m not sure if it was intended to only work that way? Or if certain audio editors in the world need it to work that way without auto-updating for already selected tracks?
So those are questions for development - whether the current preference can be adjusted/”fixed” or if that will anger a bunch of users, or if a new sub-preference needs to be created just to be safe in which case, as the title states:

I had created a PLE to get around this “problem”:
But obviously, for the average user, it would be easier to not use PLE + it would save me a key command and finger stroke.
