What is the best way in Dorico to prepare such vocal ambiti and then to export them to a word processor (Pages)?
I can still do it in seconds in Finale, but feel that for my new (and first real) Dorico project I ought actually to do it in Dorico.
You could use a graphic slice (in Engrave Mode)
Thank you, and apologies for slow response. In this instance I ended up using my existing Finale ambiti and importing what was necessary into Pages.
For my Dorico future, I presume it should be easy to create a page ready with two or three examples of ambiti (just as I have in Finale) for which I can adjust the range as needed and export as ‘graphic slices’.
Apologies for unsolicited and off-topic nerdery, but the plural of the Latin word Ambitus is Ambitūs. It’s a u-stem, fourth declension.
There’s a little auxiliary font called Ambitus, which lets you type these things directly as text using some clever OpenType ligature work.
Ha! Thanks for the correction. When I was 15, I took (and passed) Latin O-level, but that was long ago as I’m now 85.
Thank you very much for the link to the Ambitus font. I have downloaded it and look forward to experimenting with it due course.
