When copying and pasting notes, how can I ensure that the original velocity values are preserved? The attached GIF demonstrates that, by default, the velocity data is not retained during the paste operation.
In case the GIF is unclear: the selected eighth note in bar 24 has a velocity value of 58, but when the bar is pasted into the following bar, the same note appears with a velocity value of 47.
Hi @rraby, those differences are a consequence of the humanisation that Dorico applies. You can deactivate the humanisation settings in Playback Options>Dynamics.
Deactivating this 3 options should give the exact same velocity values in copied section:
Thanks for your help, @Christian_R - much appreciated, as ever.
As a feature request for the team, I would find it helpful if, under Preferences → Note Input and Editing, there were an option to include velocity values alongside MIDI CC, pitch bend and dynamics.
Alternatively, a dedicated paste command that allows velocity values to be included on an ad hoc basis would offer useful flexibility.
