Presets for imports

Can I use any preset or template for the import of xml- or midi- files? My question is regarding the desktop and IPad Version. When I import xml- or midi-files, I always have to correct some settings eg. the title for the flows, which I don’t want, have to be disabled etc. It seems that some settings for the layout are used, others not for the import.

In Dorico for macOS and Windows, you can import MusicXML or MIDI into an existing project by choosing File > Import (which imports into the current project) rather than File > Open (which creates a new project).

In Dorico for iPad, you can’t import into an existing project.

@wibem1
if you don’t mind an extra step, you can use an existing project.
First step, import the xml into Dorico for iPad. It has to be saved and you have to know where this new file sits.
Second step, change to your project into that you would like to import (your template project).
Third step, via the Jump Bar type “Import Flow” and navigate to your project file from step one. It will import as a new flow and will inherit your presets and settings.

Thanks. The workaround on the IPad for importing xml-files into a existing project is quite laborious. I hope there will be an import function in the near future for the IPad version. It would be even better to have presets which work also for the import.

wibem,

I have just done this a couple of times - and it’s actually not that bad.
It would be interesting to know, if Dorico Elements supports importing of music.xml.
If yes, then there is hope for the iPad version - may be it could be implemented via the Jump Bar…
