<Mac Studio M4 Max; Tahoe 26.4>
I have a project with 141 flows, from which I have to export (i.e. Print) individual, non-contiguous SVGs from it to create educational materials.
When I select a single flow to print as an SVG, I get the whole page, not the single indicated flow.
… both file names appear on a single file but only a single file gets exported.
Sometimes, if I try to export a single SVG, in this case flow “L.11.16 step 1”, it exports the whole page with that SVG rather than just the single flow.
Having just started learning and using Dorico just last August 2025, I suspect that I am the culprit and not doing something correctly in Dorico to export flows as SVGs.
If there’s another more correct to export flows as SVGs, I haven’t been able to find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m not sure if this would be terribly efficient but I would consider having a layout in Setup Mode for each flow. Then, in Print mode, you could select only the flow’s layout (or multiple if desired) then print SVG. As far as filenames are concerned, it seems possible that updating the filename parts to include the name of each flow would keep each in a separate file when printing only 1 layout. With more, you might have to play around a bit with filename structure.
This is expected behavior. When you print specific flows, Dorico actually prints the pages containing those flows; it does not hide material from other flows that appears on those pages.
Edit: In your case, graphic slices might work better for you.
I looked at your sample file. When in Print Mode, what do you select on the left side of the screen. If you are using the default “Full Score” layout, you will get everything. If you select layouts below that, it seems to filter things the way you would like them to be (illustrates my points with the flow-specific layouts).
If we choose <Print/Graphics/Flows/Choose…" we get a list from which to select individial flows, presumably to export as an SVG.
If Dorico “…does not hide material from other flows that appears on those pages.” and this is “…expected behavior.” what is the purpose of being able to select individual flows as in this graphic (when we select “Choose…”?
That’s what’g got me flummoxed.
Thanks for the reply but the source file for all my work (the one with currently 141 flows) is often edited for flow location, show/hide empty staves, show/hide players, etc. So, this is not a viable approach.

An alternate way to select a page range, that would also work across layouts where the page numbers for the selected flows differs (I assume, without having tested it). I could see the use for that.
And while I get why you’d want it to work differently (did you see asherber’s edit suggesting graphic slices?), it makes sense that the page layout isn’t changed by the printing process. The page you get always looks like it does when you look at it in Engrave mode.
There is a Layout Option to start each flow on a new page (ie disallow more than one flow on a page). If that is set then the choice makes perfect sense.
Ahh…I guess that makes sense. I seldom start all flows on new pages, but now that I think about it it might solve the “export individual flows” question I started with.
Gonna give that a look.
Thanks for the help.
