Problem. 4 Notes of a MIDI-file don't behave as they should

Hello,

in 2006 I made a piano piece with Sion Quickscore that I want to edit. I exported a MIDI-file, loaded it in Cubase 14 Artist and everything is fine except 4 notes that play staccato even though they are long. Curiously this also happens when I load the old project in Sion Quickscore, so whatever happened must have happened in 2006 after I finished the project.

What I don’t understand is, if I delete the notes and draw in new ones they behave the same. I can’t find any explanation in the list editor or the note properties

Any idea where else I could look?

Hi,

Isn’t the an Articulation Key switch in the library you are using by any chance?

Thanks for your reply.

Don’t know what the articulation key switch is, but why would it effect just this single note that was played a second earlier without this issue?

Hi,

Does it play as a short note or is it really a staccato?

By the Key switches, you can change different articulations (legato/staccato/pizzicato).

It could affect only one note, is the is another Key switch back to the original articulation. Very often, the Key switches are very low notes.

I understand what you mean. When I draw in a 128th note on that track it sounds the same length. I don’t see any other notes that could act as key switches and I don’t see any events in the expression section of the key editor.

Hi,

Sorry, I don’t know how to hear the difference between a 128th or staccato on piano. I also don’t know how to make a note staccato in the editor to compare it.

I found the problem.

For whatever reason the short notes started before the previous note ended, so I guess the note off command of the previous note cut off the new note as well.
Just noticed that when I tried to re-enter the notes in a different section using the exact same properties of each note.

Hi,

Isn’t it a monophonic instrument? Is it a VST2 or VST3 plug-in?

It’s the standard acoustic grand piano from Halion. The problem was, that the same note was still held when it was played again.
