Problem Copying 8-Bar Ranges – Ends Up as 7.3.3.199 (Bar Grid On)

Hi everyone,

I’m running into an issue when arranging tracks in Cubase. I’m working with an 8-bar loop, and I want to copy and paste it exactly across the project timeline. However, every time I do this, the duplicated range ends up at something like 7.3.3.199 instead of aligning perfectly to the 8-bar grid. This throws off the whole arrangement and timing.

I’m using Bar Grid mode, and I usually position the cursor with Shift + Option before pasting. Still, the result isn’t snapping exactly to the bar as expected.

Is there a more reliable way to duplicate or extend an 8-bar range without needing to manually reposition the cursor each time? Something that ensures it stays exactly on the grid?

Any tips or workflow suggestions would be super appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

It looks like a rounding issue. How exactly do you copy and paste, please?

Hi Martin,

1- I set a loop,
2- Range: global copy
3- Paste Time
thanks

Drag the loop by the center of the right hand side, on the small black box, for as many iterations as needed. Or make sure the loop is exactly 8 bars long.

OR

You can create a number of copies between the right and left locators.
● Select Edit > Functions > Fill Loop to create a number of copies, starting at the left locator
and ending at the right locator.
The last copy is automatically shortened to end at the right locator position

and other ways as well. Manual helps.

Yep, I had this happening, too.
No matter how often I would drag the end of the audio event to the full bar (like 8.0.0.0) it would land one tick short (7.3.4.119).
Snapp to Grid (not to Event), no zero crossing engaged, other events worked out fine.

Are you using time stretch on these events?

Hi,

What Sample Rate is the Project and the Audio file? What is the fps setting of your project?

Does it happen with all Audio files or just one/some?

Hi Martin,
Sample Rate 44.100
FPS setting = 30

I’ve attached a few screenshots to better illustrate what’s happening. I’m pretty sure I’m doing something wrong, and that it’s not a technical issue.

Try switching off “zero crossings”.
