Problem dragging audio files into arrange page

On C5.53 (32bit and 64bit) on my Win7 (64bit) system I cannot drag any audio files (WAV or AIF or MP3) from an explorer window into the arrange page. The cursor turns to a circle with a diagonal line through it when I hover over the arrange window. Same problem when dragging to an existing audio track or to the empty space at the bottom of the arrangement (which usually creates a new audio track)

BUT it works fine in C5.53 on WinXP, and also C6 (all versions) on both Win XP and Win7.

I have RTFM’d and twatted my prefs to within an inch of their life.

Any ideas? Anyone else with this problem? I can drag files from Media Bay with no problem though (but I don’t want to use this if possible)

Ok, now you got me confused. Initially, you said it didn’t work in W7, then you said:

by “C6 (all versions)” I actually meant “C6 32bit and 64 bit”

Let me clarify…

C6 on Win XP - > works OK
C5 on Win XP → works OK
C6 on Win 7 → Works OK
C5 on Win7 → doesn’t work

I have just reinstalled C5 but the problem persists…
