I have a document which is causing me many problems. Dorico has always been really stable, but this file crashes every time I try to edit anything. The original file had three flows, so I split them into separate files when I started having problems. Flows I & II were fine, but flow III is very unstable, and I am struggling to edit anything. Any action in the properties panel causes a crash, as does changing the Playback Template, adding a cue, adding a tempo, editing a tempo etc. etc. I’ve attached it here with the diagnostics file.
I 'm on Mac OS X Ventura, and the latest version of Dorico Pro. The file was started in V3 and I have been keeping it up to date. No problems until just now with v5. I’m not having problems with any other files, so maybe this one is just corrupted somehow. I’ve tried copying it and pasting into a blank new document, but the problems get copied over too. The latest problem, and its a new one which just appeared yesterday, is a stuck note on playback from bar 13. Tried deleting what I thought was stuck on — it crashed.
It seems related to playback. If I deactivate playback by clicking the “power button” icon at the top, it appears to work. In fact, if I activate the project again, it crashes.
Thanks for trying. I thought that too, but it seems just about anything will crash it.
I tried exporting it as musicxml and opening in Finale, and got this message:
“FlowIII working copy - Full score - 01 III.musicxml at line 607: cvc-complex-type.3.2.2: Attribute ‘system’ is not allowed to appear in element ‘direction’.”
I am none the wiser…
Exported the result as musicxml and reimported into Dorico, but the problem, whatever it is, came back with it. Tried the same trick in Musescore with the same result.
I fear I may have to do the whole thing again from scratch.
Thank you for trying. Alas, once I had loaded NotePerformer, when I tried to add in the correct tempo (dotted minim = 84) this one crashed too. It’s very odd.
Thanks for attaching both the diagnostics and the project. There’s nothing wrong with the project itself: there’s a crash in part of the code related to the playback of grace notes. We’ll make sure this gets fixed as soon as possible. I’m sorry for the inconvenience caused in the meantime.
