Hi,
Install the update manually, please.
Mr. Jirsak,
I’ve already tried that.
Hmm… I would try to repair you current Cubase 14 installation.
Just click on your Cubase 14 installation under add/remove program, and click “modify”…
In there, repair the installation.
Seems like something is corrupted in your installation.
If the above doesn’t work, download the update again manually from steinys download manager, og directly from Cubase 14 Downloads | Steinberg, and run it.

Hi,
I just downloaded the file Cubase_14.0.10_Installer_win64. I tried installing it and I get the same messages.
Did you also try to repair your installation from add/remove programs, before running the updater?
Hi,
please make sure to grey out your email address (last screenshot) in case this was by accident ![]()
Have you by any chance updated your system recently (new drive etc)?
I updated to 14.0.40 a few hours ago along with a Groove Agent content update, and now MediaBay is “busy” along with all instruments (Spinning cube) as if updating stuff. It has been doing so now for a couple of hours and no content is available, no samples, no instruments, no presets. This means Cubase downtime, ergo no production. I will let it “do it’s thing” overnight and see what happens.
Any hints on whats going on?
Nothing good is going to happen if you leave it overnight. You’re better off just restarting. Unless you want your hard drive to be reading and writing all night long for nothing.
Something must be corrupted/missing in your Cubase 14 installation.
In this case, I would start all over, removing the Cubase 14 program installation, and install it again. Just remove the “Cubase 14” program installation, not everything else!
And then run the Cubase installer again. Make sure, that your downloads aren’t corrupted, as this could cause all kinds of problems ![]()
If it still fails, wait for Steinberg support, or somebody else might know something about this.
I’m having the exact same issues. I cannnot even uninstall Cubase 14 Pro to do a fresh install.
The upgrade has destroyed my computer’s performance with constant spikes and cutouts while using my normal preferences. I rolled back to 14.0.32 and this resolved my issues. Why Steinberg does not bench test these updates is beyond me. And if they are bench testing, they need to learn how to do it correctly.
I noticed this behavier a few years ago too. Did you by any chance remove files or directories from your C:\Windows\Installer directory manually or maybe using a cleaner tool like cccleaner?
Because lots of updates of Steinberg still rely on files that were written there by the first version.
You could try to first install the ‘first’ version of Cubase 14 again an then the latest update v14.0.40.
Hope this helps?
I managed to unregister all my products withing the Win registry and did a re-install via the Download Assistant. Everything installed fine, with the exception of this new maintenance release 14.0.40 and Groove Agent SE (the latter, I really do not care much about). Now what?
Surely, there has to be something wrong architecturally with those two update packages!
Hi,
This is a Windows error message. Nothing to do with Cubase.
Please, read about the solution here.
Hi Mr. Jirsak,
I tried running the installation again directly from the file but now with the “as administrator” option and the same messages appear. You wrote that “error 1608” is a Windows error. Does the first message before it, “the specified account already exists”, also apply to Windows?!
