I have an issue but I am not sure it’s a bug. I am using Cubase 13.0.41 Artist on Windows 11. My issue is with the Arranger track and when I start play back at a section of the song other than the start. If the next section is after the section that I started at, it’s fine it continues playing, but if it has to jump before the section, it stops playing. However if I start at the beginning of the song it plays right thru to the end, even if it has to jump back and forth. I set the Jump To setting either End or None it makes no difference, I get the same behaviour.
For example; if I start playing the song at the Bridge, it will play the Bridge then the Solo (cause it is after in the timeline) then when it has to play the Chorus (which is earlier in the timeline) playback stops at the Chorus.
I am not sure if this is a bug, but I don’t remember having this issue in 12. This is an issue cause as I work on the arrangement of a song I don’t want to always start playback at the beginning to verify something. Is anyone else having this issue? If it is a bug I will report it to Steinburg. Thanks.
I am also using Windows 11, C13 Pro, and have not encountered such issues. Could I suggest that you double-check a couple of things to see if they help?
First, you might want to make sure that the Arranger track is active all the time during playback. This can sometimes be affected by a badly configured MIDI controller or surface.
Secondly, you could check that the chain in the Inspector is ordered as you expect. You can also verify the Jump mode at the bottom of the Inspector.
You may also choose to select a specific section by clicking the play icon in the Inspector, which will allow you to check whether that section is playing solo without any issues.
Thanks for responding. I tried few things and i got inconsistent results. I tried a new project without using my template and it worked as designed. But I tried one of my old projects which uses my template and the problem occurred, but only with certain sections.
The Arranger track is usually active unless I’m recording. All the sections are set to Normal “-” with the line showing. I also tried Repeat Forever and that seems to work.
The fact is it is inconsistent so I just need to live with it until I figure out what is going on. Thanks.
I tried both ways and the problem still happens. I think I know what the issue is though, since I was testing it. In the Arrangement, right after the second Bridge I have the second occurrence of the Chorus, which is before it in the timeline (the Chorus is the same, so I only have it once). I think what is happening is that CB is getting confused as to which Chorus in the arrangement to jump to , so it stops.
Starting from the second Bridge it either stops at the end of the section or it hiccups and plays the Chorus. But it jumps to the first occurrence of the Chorus in the arrangement and keeps playing almost in a loop. if this makes sense.
So I think I solved the problem at least with the above project. I moved the Chorus after the all the Bridge sections, and now it continues playing no problem.
