I have been searching for a solution for this, but so far, no clue why this happens.
The audio doesn’t match the project’s tempo. It goes out of the tempo just after a few bars. The sample rate is the same for the audio, project, and the soundcard. I have switched between the musical and linear buttons, but no difference.
At the first import, the audio even changed pitch. That doesn’t happen again for some reason. But tempo is still off.
Ok, so now I have tried with other audio files and imported them into cubase with no problems. I guess it must be something wrong with the file itself. Still, any ideas are welcome.
When you import, there is a button that you need to tick to allow cubase to change the sample rate of the audio sample if it doesn’t match the cubase project.
if this is not ticked, you will have audio that doesn’t match and is playing at a different speed and pitch.
You say sample rate matches but it’s actually possible to record with incorrect sample rate baked in so the file reports differently than it really is. If this happened the difference between the two files should be around 8.84% and can be fixed by editing the header.
If it’s a much smaller difference it would suggest it was recorded with a device that has a clock speed that isn’t matching yours.
It’s a file given to me for rearranging. You say it can be fixed by editing the header. Can you be more specific? I know Cubase fairly well, but there are still functions I am not that familiar with.
If you have a pc this might still work….used to be simplest option but may be a bit flaky on newer o/s
Or wavelab can also do it….I think you just import files, open properties and change the rate….save. Been a while since I’ve needed to do this though…..just make sure it doesn’t try to actually ressample at any point, that’s not what you want.
Thank you! I tried the Header Investigator, and it totally destroyed the file
It changed the tempo (disney mice singing), and one channel became just noise. Well, I have copies of the file, so it is not a problem. This is still a mystery to me.
Well it is supposed to change the tempo…but if you got chipmunks you probably set the wrong sample rate still…..You didn’t confirm how much out your sync is on the first place so who knows if this is even your issue.
