Problem with Latency Compensation and CR inserts

Hi there,

There seems to be something wonky with the latency compensation (or possibly the displayed playhead position) when you have bypassed inserts in the control room.

I am using Cubase Pro 12.0.40 on a Win 10 machine (with all the latest patches), and I have tested this w/ an Audient iD14 interface.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start an empty project.
  2. Engage the control room.
  3. Engage the click track.
  4. Insert an high latency plugin (such as ADPTR Streamliner) as an insert on your monitor bus in the control room. (At this point all should be fine with latency compensation engaged.)
  5. Bypass the added plugin, and start playback of the project.
  6. Result: The playhead in the project is now lagging behind the click track.
  7. Restricting Latency Compensation will make the playhead display correctly again.

Am I missing something? Cheers!

Petter

Same issue here with Cubase Pro 12.0.52 Build 393

Bypassing a plugin does not change the latency that it introduces. You have to turn the plugin off (Alt Click in Windows) or unload the plugin.

I would think that the issue is with the display of the playhead. And what latency there actually is does not matter.

Thanks for the hint, MixterRader. I was not aware, that clicking the deactivate button of the plugin does not turn it off. Turning it off via Alt-Click solved the problem!
