Problem with playing MIDI tracks

hello friends, I use Cubase 13 Elements. Recently I have been having problems with midi sync. I use external instruments connected via midi to my computer. After recording some material, using very precise quantization, when playing the song, I hear that the notes are played very unevenly. I don’t rely only on my hearing, but if I record this song on an audio track, I can clearly see that the notes are not hitting the rhythm exactly. I must have messed something up in Cubase’s settings. What settings should I check to ensure MIDI playback matches the song’s tempo and is consistent?

Hi,

Do you use any effect with timing on the external hardware? Something like arpeggiator?

Why do you need to sync, if you send the MIDI data from Cubase?

My connection: computer > MIDI interface > instrument. And the other way around: instrument > audio mixer > audio interface > computer. I purchased the latest version of Cubase Elements, installed it and the problem disappeared.

Hi,

If you don’t use any arpeggiator or something similar, you don’t have to use any sync option. What kind of sync do you use, MTC?

There’s a problem. I don’t know what was set. I always pressed “play” and Cubase played the song at a steady tempo. But then something changed and the tempo stopped being steady. Can you briefly write about MTC, what is it?
