I’m working on 3 pieces in one file. The popover won’t change to R.H. fingers in two of them. In the first piece I get a R or H in the popover when I use down/up arrow, so I can enter fingerings for either hand. But in the others I just get a small crotchet with a number, I can enter L.H. but it won’t change to R.H. fingers?
I’m using Dorico 5 Pro on Windows 10.
Welcome to the forum @trishabudd – that sounds like the instrument isn’t understood by Dorico to be a fretted instrument.
Perhaps try changing the instrument in Setup mode to make sure it’s definitely a fretted instrument? (this retains all its existing music, but updates it as needed for the new instrument type)
Thank you so much. It was an XML file that I had imported. It did say classical guitar on the player, but obviously wasn’t being recognised. When I changed it as you suggested, it works perfectly!
Changing instruments… to the apparent same instrument is rather mandatory if you want to make sure everything is going to turn out all right when dealing with XML imports
Thanks, I’ll make sure that I always do that with xml imports in the future!
