Problem with system breaks in parts with offset bar lines

I’m doing a harp duet. The harps are playing with offset bar lines between each other, but in the individual parts the barlines should just look normal. The problem is that they are both showing lots of half-measures that are continuing on the next line. I’m trying to use system breaks in the individual parts, but the systems are breaking at odd places - not at the end of the individual measure.

I’m trying to do system breaks at the part level, but it seems to be inheriting it’s info on the global level:

System Breaks work on a per-layout-basis, so there is nothing to be inherited from the score to the individual parts regarding those …

Exactly. That’s what the manual says….so why are these breaking at weird places? I think it has something to do with having to use independent time signatures in this project.

There is a setting, which allows bars to be split.
I guess you might have set that to yes:

Thank you! It was checked, but for some reason I had to UNcheck it but it does what I need now.
