Hello, I have a small problem that I can’t solve. I can’t get the division indicators between shoulders to appear. I followed all the instructions in the manual, but they don’t appear. Has anyone else had the same problem? Thanks for your help.
Hi @Romyflute, not sure what are you referring to with “division indicator between loadings” and “division indicators between shoulders”. Can you attach a link to the Manual for this specific item? Or just a screenshot example of what you are trying to obtain?
(I have edited the topic title to use ‘systems’ instead of ‘loadings’.)
First, note that this setting is a per-layout setting. Did you have the correct layout selected in the right-hand panel when you applied the setting?
Second, it looks like you have chosen the third option, “When number of staves differs”. Since you have only posted a partial screenshot, I can’t tell whether the second system has a different number of staves from the first system.

Thanks for your help. Anyway, my configuration is as follows:
and this is the page
I don’t understand why it’s not working. I’ve read the instructions carefully but I can’t find the solution. Thank you!
That looks like it should work. Are you sure you applied the settings to the correct layout? Can you upload your project file here?
Edit: Oh wait – It looks like you’ve got two different music frames there. I think system dividers only appear when the systems are in the same frame.
Yes, you’re right, there are two frames per page… is that not possible? Is that the error? But then how can I get the same layout without using frames?
Thank you
Dorico will automatically put 2 or more systems on a page if there is enough space for it.
In this case, each of your frames is more than 100% full, so Dorico probably won’t want to put two systems on the page. Your staves are already close together, so there’s probably not much to play with there. You may need to choose a smaller space size (or larger Rastral size) in Layout Options > Page Setup > Space Size, which will make all of your music smaller and will give more room on each system and in each frame.
Dorico tries to fit music on a page according to your settings – page margins, space size, note spacing, minimum gaps. You need to play around with these settings to find a combination that gives you the best results.
Did you change to a different Rastral size? Maybe it would be enough to return to your original Rastral size and then make the space size smaller in small increments, to get something in between your first screenshot and your second.
Thank you very much! I’ll give it a try. Unfortunately, I’ve only been using DORICO for a short time (I used to use FINALE). I can’t always find the right solutions in the Dorico manual and I get stuck…
Thanks again!
Ciao @Romyflute, if you upload your Dorico file here, we can give advices on the settings needed. (I would try reducing the minimum gaps and the note spacing, so you can increase slightly the space size.)
Thank you for your help. If I need it, I’ll ask you. I want to bang my head against it a bit to learn!
Hello. Have a good day at work, everyone.
