Problem with time stretching

I’m learning a lead guitar part and using Cubase for playback.

I have an audio track imported to Cubase AI.

For small sections of the lead I copy an excerpt to a different track and then apply the following command (to only the copied track)

Audio → Process → Time Stretch

The copied track is fine (it is slowed down as expected).

The problem is that the original recording also slows down exactly where I’ve made a copy.

It might be easier to show the problem with a video recording (ask me of you want a video showing the issue).

Okay, I found the issue. It’s pretty simple actually. During the very last step of time stretching you need to select “New Version” (not “Continue”). See the attached screen capture.
