I take it that I cannot get playback to play col legno. Is there any workaround?
-
Only one fermata in one spot is causing problems, and I don’t know why, and it doesn’t consistently happen. This fermata on one instrument will sometimes last too long, sounding the note after fermatas in other instruments have stopped. Any ideas?
- It will depend on whether the sample library contains col legno samples, or not.
Noteperformer does; also GPO5; Spitfire BBCSO, and most other ‘pro’ libraries.
- You’ll need to upload a project file that exhibits the problem. You could make a copy of the document, and delete most of the notes except for this bar, if you don’t want to ‘reveal’ your work online.
If I upgrade to a later (or pro) version of Dorico, will I gain access to these other sample libraries?
I’ll post the page containing the fermata problem.
Thanks.
No, Dorico comes with Iconica Sketch, which contains sustains, spiccato, staccato, pizzicato and tremolo; but nothing beyond that.
The libraries I listed are all third-party VST libraries, of which there are a huge number.
I would recommend Noteperformer, which provides the widest range of techniques, and best phrasing, for the lowest cost and least amount of effort. It’s specifically designed for notation software; whereas most other sample libraries are designed for use in DAWs (e.g. Logic, Cubase, etc).
