Problems with first page template

Hi everyone - I am having a problem getting the parts of an orchestral piece to show the correct information on the first page (Title, composer and arranger). I would be grateful for any advice - I have attached the page in Engrave mode (for those who know Mahler #1, ignore the errors in the actual music!) as well as the default page.

Could you post a screenhot from Engravemode while the firstpage is selected?
(Or better: attach the Dorico Project file)

Maybe you have page overrides

Maybe you have attached the default page instead of the first.

This looks like the First Page template is not actually applied to the first page (but rather the Default template). Indeed posting the file itself or at least a screenshot from engrave mode with the right-hand zone visible will get you better answers.

And this must be set in Layout Options > Page Setup (for all layouts)

In order for Dorico to use the First page template automatically, it has to be able to show some music. You have removed the music frame from this template, leaving Dorico with nowhere to put the notes in the flow; therefore, Dorico reverts to using the Default page template, because that has a music frame on it.

The “First” page template isn’t intended for the first page in the whole score: it’s for the first page of music.

If you want to create a title page, I recommend doing that as a custom page template, then manually assigning your title page template to page 1.

Thanks Lillie - that’s great - pardon my inexperience, but how do I fix that? I tried putting a music frame back into the template but it didn’t fix the problem.

The quickest way to a definitive answer is to share your project file.

You may also have page overrides that you need to remove first, in order for Dorico to pick up changes to the page template.

Make sure also that if you’ve added a music frame to the First page template, that it is both assigned to the same frame chain as the Default page template (usually this is “MA”) and that you’ve copied it from the left->right, or right->left (so that both left- and right-hand pages get the same frames).

Alternatively, use the Library Manager to compare your page template sets to the factory default, and reset them there.
