Problems with playback in Cubase LE 4

Hello,

I’ve just started using Cubase LE 4 and so I’m on a bit of a steep learning curve here.

While playing some interviews I’m hearing what can best be described as a ‘crackling echo’ on random parts of the recording.

I thought it might be a problem with the buffer/latency settings, which I’ve tried to adjust via Cubase in the control panel of the ASIO DirectX driver but it seems I’m unable to do this. So I’m wondering if the Sound Blaster Audigy sound card I’m using is up to the job.

Oddly enough when I play the same files in Cubase LE4 on my laptop they sound fine!

The information/settings shown in the control panels of the ASIO driver on both machines are the same so it’s a mystery to me why this is happening.

Is it likely that I need another sound card and if so can anyone recommend one that will do the job?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,
Vince
