Problems with scores and parts
In dorico 6: I can now insert Title, subtitle,
composer, arranger lyricist into the score. but now I
would like to learn thoroughly step by step how to
get the same lyrics in the parts? I have filled in
the source in project info + the same in 1. Flow 1. I
do not use Elements or SE
Can you help me with that?
Welcome to the forum, @Baritono15!
For both the scores and the parts, the best way to do this is by editing the page templates in Engrave mode. Score layouts and part layouts use different page template sets, so if you edited the First template for the score to put in tokens for all of the fields you want to display, you need to do the same thing for the First template for the parts.
In Engrave mode, if you select a part layout from the dropdown menu at the top of the screen, you can double-click on the First template in the right panel to edit it. Make the same changes that you did for the score, and press Apply; this template will automatically be applied to all part layouts.
(If you made the changes directly to your score layout, rather than to the First template for the score, it’s better to undo those changes and edit the template instead. You can right-click on the icon for page 1 in the right-hand panel and choose Remove Page Overrides to get rid of any manual changes, and then you can double-click the First template and edit it to get what you want.)
Hi Asherber
The score turned out OK, and the first part, although I made the same changes as I did for the score and pressed Apply; but the template only came up on the first part?
Hi again!
Of course, it’s possible to do it manually for each part, but when there are 25 parts, does it take time?
If any of your parts have a red triangle on the page 1 icon in the Pages panel, you’ll need to right click and remove page overrides in order for the part to reflect changes to the template.
If that doesn’t help, then can you upload your project file here so someone can take a look?
The point of using a Page Template is that you just do it once on the template, and it should apply to all parts immediately.
If you create extra title pages that need to be brought in using Insert page template change…, unfortunately it will take time because you stilm need to do the whole operation one layout at a time. But if you are only using First and Default page templates, it’s automatic.
Hi
The parts are still not right, but the score is ok?
Best regards,

The score has:
And the parts have:
It looks like you made the composer box larger on the score and moved the lyricist by changing the score directly, because the first page has overrides (red triangle). If I remove overrides, I get this:
Which I think is very close to what the parts look like.
If you want to move the lyricist and make the composer box larger, then do it by editing the First template for the score and then the First template for the parts (which will change all the parts). Note that each template has a left and a right page; if you make changes just on one of those pages, you should click the L>R or R>L button at the top to copy the changes to the other one.
(There are some other changes you might also consider, like better centering of the lyricist and right-aligning the arranger.)
Hi asherber
Thanks — I think I’m finally starting to get a feel for how Dorico works. I’ve been using Finale since the very beginning (about 40 years!), back in the days of those three thick printed manuals.
