I need help!
I have now spend the best part of a week scouring the dorico documentation, the steinberg forum, youtube, and other websites to find the answer to my percussion problem:
I cannot get Dorico to cause Opus (Eastwest) to make the (or any for that matter) required percussion sound when either playing my score, clicking the notehead, or pressing the keys on my piano, even though I followed all the steps. I can even see on the Opus keyboard the correct notes being triggered, but no sound is coming out.
On top of that I now have lost my timpani sounds, even though that at least was working fine, and I did not change anything in the timpani setup both in Dorico and Opus.
At least I can now see that the correct midi note is triggering the correct keyboard note.
Incidentally, it might be useful knowing that when I hit my midi keyboard (external to my pc), I get a trigger on the correct note in opus, but no sound and there is NO signal on the meter that way either.
Check Audio devices in Opus settings (cog wheel → Setup Audio and MIDI …). If there’s no valid device, Opus won’t generate a signal, Dorico neither, so you might want to check there as well (Edit → Device Setup).
You didn’t say above if you can hear any other instrument, only that timpani ceased to output.
What expression maps are you using? AFAIK there aren’t really any for EW Opus, I think there might be some old ones. I’ve heard of people working on this, but I’m not aware of any. If the expression map/playback template chain isn’t set up that would be an issue.
