I have the device installed, and its patch bank has the list of programs, which with this instrument, was included in the midi device manager list. I am trying to try out different patches with midi channel one, and instead of playing in single mode, it jumps to performance mode with no sound played. I was looping a section to hear different voices in the midi part, but it keeps going to performance mode instead of staying on single.

I don’t know the Yamaha modes from top of my head, but I would expect, the instrument should be in the multi-timbral state.
In any case, I believe, you can switch the modes by sending proper MIDI data (maybe SysEx). Please, verify, what kind of data (all data) do you really send out.
I just wanted it to make the program change and it kept going to Performance mode, with the wrong program sounding.
