Project crashes when clicking preview/play button on "Set Up Musical Scales"

EDITED
Cubase Pro 12.0.70. Windows 11.
The project crashes when attempting to preview a scale routed to a MIDI track that plays an external MIDI instrument. It works fine if the track active is instead a VST Instrument, like Steinberg’s The Grand for example.

Create a project. Create an AUDIO, a MIDI track routed to an external MIDI Instrument, a VST Instrument track and a CHORD track.
Input some chords on the CHORD track and some notes on the
MIDI track and play it to confirm it’s working properly and outputting sound.
Can optionally create a second MIDI track to same external MIDI Instrument to monitor and play the chords from the CHORD track.
On the CHORD track, select the VST Instrument to monitor and play the chords.
Go to PROJECT, CHORD Track, SET UP MUSICAL SCALES.
Click on preview/play on one of the scales selected for USE and you should hear the scale played on the VST Instrument. This works OK.

NOW.
On the CHORD track select to monitor and play the chords in the MIDI track going to an external MIDI keyboard for example and test it and it will play OK.
Do the same as above,
PROJECT, CHORD track, SET UP MUSICAL SCALES.
Now preview/play one of the scales selected for USE and the preview does not play and after clicking a few times the PROJECT CRASHES. and closes after a crash info window appears.

You should update to the latest version in order to get a solid answer, or even fix the problem.

Thanks, will do. I have updated to latest Cubase Pro 12 version and edited the original post above.
