I was working on my template, doing some maintenance stuff.
I saved it, closed it, try to reopened it, but it won’t open again. Got the following message:
“The project xxxx.cpr is not valid!”
If I look at the backup file I notice a sudden change in size of my backup, going from 1;2G, to 2G and then to 6G in the span of only three automatic saves, (even though I was actually erasing stuff instead of adding more things to my template…)
Now if I try to open the 1.2G backup and save it, it size goes straight to 6Go plus I cannot open it anymore.
So…
what the hell happened ?
Is there anything I can do to open my last saved cpr “not valid”?
What might have cause this sudden change of size ?
We are aware of strange things happening with projects using Kontakt instances where sometimes the project will keep doubling in size when being re-saved, it’s as if Kontakt instances save twice more than they should.
In order to help you the best would be for you to identify the “minimal reproducible case”, e.g. make a small project where the size keeps increasing every time you’re saving without doing anything. And then send us this project. My assumption is that you might be able to do this by just creating a few Instrument tracks relying on Instruments loaded in Kontakt. Is your Kontakt up-to-date btw?
thanks for the recommendations, I updated Kontakt which was not up to date.
That was not the root cause though and I think I figured out what I did wrong:
While working in my template I was enabling tracks to access to their channel settings without having my external SSD (where all my librairies are installed) connected.
As a result in Kontakt all thoses patch went to “Content missing” and somehow it made the size of my .cpr explode.
The size of my .cpr got back to normal after re-activating thoses content missing -tracks with the SSD connected and relocating the location of the samples folder.
We reported this issue to Native Instrument. They are aware of the issue, and they have plan an update which should fix this in Kontakt. Please refer to them if you need more info it.
