Project set up question

Hi. I am very rusty.
What I want to do is use Cubase to record my Hammond playing, along with a backing track with all the other instruments less Hammond.

Basically, the project is set up, but the backing track part has a short piece of silence before the first beat. i want to eradicate this, then run the tempo detection tool to align the tempo to the live beat. When I try to drag the part border, a message saying “First event cannot be moved”.

How is this done please?

I stopped using parts a long time ago (don’t like them) but I would imagine you need to open the part and edit the start of the event itself.

How can you work without parts? Puzzled?

By leaving everything as individual events and grouping or group selecting stuff if I need to move them together.

However, I just booted up Cubase and I don’t think this is your solution…..I can actually drag the end of parts just the same as events.
