ProTools to Nuendo file conversion software

That will be the best! Can’t wait for it to hit windows!!

Just demoed Interchanger. It’s certainly impressive. For a post project, it did a decent job at translating my overly complicated Pro Tools 5.1 session into both Reaper and Nuendo formats. It did the better job with Nuendo as far as surround channel handling.

On the music side of things, it didn’t stretch audio tracks from Splice that were created in a Reaper session and the midi tracks were a little wonky. It may have been a demo limitation and the Splice loops might be ‘protected’ somehow.

Overall, I might pony up for it. PT, Nuendo and Reaper are my primary DAW’s and I move between them all the time.

It’s working pretty well for me now from PT to N15

I have problems with Interchanger. Short demo scene transfer from Pro Tools to Nuendo with no problems but whole episode gives me an error "Project was created with Cubase Version 10.0.50. This Program version cannot load it.”

Hi everyone,

I came across this recently and thought it might be worth sharing here, especially for anyone working with large Avid projects and Nuendo.

It’s called Lux Bridge:

It allows you to convert large Avid projects into Nuendo, and in my experience it actually works very well. It can be particularly useful when dealing with bigger projects where manually rebuilding or transferring everything into Nuendo would be a lot of work.

I’ve been using it and found it quite practical, so I thought I’d share it here in case anyone else is dealing with Avid → Nuendo workflows.

Not affiliated with it — just sharing something I found useful.

I had the same Cubase issue and reported it to the dev through the fault report section of the app . They contacted me and I have just tested a pre release yesterday that has fixed the Cubase issue.

They are really responsive

Lux Bridge looks great too. Can it successfully deal with accurate channel extraction from polyphonic wave files? That seems to be a stumbling block for these programs.

It looks like this can convert back to PTX as well. Can it do this successfully too? If so, this really is the perfect app!

I haven’t tried importing polyphonic WAV files yet, so I can’t confirm that 100%. However, I have tested very large PTX projects — 70–76 GB sessions from Avid — and Lux Bridge transferred them completely without any problems, and very quickly.

It also has absolutely no problems with muted segments — those are transferred correctly as well.

The whole process is very fast because it works through linked XML files.

So I assume polyphonic WAVs should probably work too, but I still want to test that properly. I’m trying to test it from every possible angle.

I did a bug report on Tuesday evening and got a working update on Wednesday morning. So pretty damn fast support

Hey guys,

don’t forget the “classic” tool EDLtranslate.

This is a very secure, reliable and well-established tool.

Protools ↔ Nuendo etc., Mac or Win

Best

Dietrich

Thanks for mentioning EDLtranslate! I didn’t know about it until now.

Hi KMT333, Interchanger developer here. Thank you for taking the time to test the updated build on a real 8 GB FX edit and for reporting the result here. Your original multichannel BWAV report gave us exactly the kind of real-world case we needed to correct the channel extraction.

Interchanger 1.7.50 is now publicly available with that fix and many other improvements across Pro Tools, REAPER, Cubase and Nuendo conversions.

And for @Sfa and everyone who was waiting for Windows: our first Windows 11 x64 Release Candidate is now available too. It uses the same conversion engine as the macOS release. The Windows installer is currently unsigned, so Windows may display an Unknown Publisher or SmartScreen warning.

Thank you as well to everyone who tested projects and sent reports. The built-in Support section remains the best way to send us a reproducible conversion problem, and we will keep working through real sessions as quickly as we can.

Looks very promissing!
Do I read it rights it’s limited to only 7.1.2? So I can’t convert my 9.1.6 Nuendo projects into other DAW projects?

Thanks.

Amazing stuff, thanks BAK! Your responsiveness and your software has been a game-changer for me!! Just purchased a second licence for 2 more windows workstations

Thank you so much for this software! This tool is superb

BAK thanks for the tool and the very reactive support. I just opened a ticket with the latest build that Interchanger wouldn’t open. It’s a very real-life dialogue edit that needs to go to ProTools.
Cheers

You’re reading the current public feature matrix correctly: it lists surround support up to 7.1.2. Please don’t rely on a 9.1.6 Nuendo project being preserved accurately in another DAW yet. We’re validating wider Atmos layouts, but I can’t give you a release date. If you can share a small representative project and tell me the target DAW, I can test that specific route.

OMG!! Just tried the Interchanger App!! It’s working… even preserving markers, groups, sends… Wow!!

The WG DAW converter is really starting to step up to the plate, the support is incredible! Last night, I found some issues, and after spending the evening with support, I received three updates throughout the night. Big shout-out to the WG team
