So i just pulled the trigger on 15 pro fingers crossed i have a better time with it than i did with 14 because it became just a pain for me these past few weeks with random crashes and random vanishing from my screen whilst in a project even after i did all the updataes i was recommended.
It’s about how lean your system runs, as well as it being updated.
For example, after a security update (Windows), once rebooted, I will immediately look for hidden drivers in the Device Manager, and as well I will go through all of the Temporary Files, folders and so on, as well as the Registry since Microsoft Edge now saves everything and I don’t need to be concerned about silly things such as cookies.
Of course, I also re-install my Audio driver, and I also remove Preferences.
In addition, I look for Services that are not necessary for a DAW and disable them.
Yeah a new PC has been on the horizon for a while now. She has served me well these last 8 years but i can tell she is ready to retire. Things clanking fans noisy running slow and i cant even update to win 11 on this engine Awww.
Nevermind. She will keep me going for another couple of months untill after christmas and then i will just have to except her retirement haha.
I’m on Windows 10 ESU, and all is well, except come October next year.
I am interested in a Panther Lake CPU, for next year with Thunderbolt 4, hopefully since I’d also like to get a MOTU 16A (I currently have an 8A), due to an internal 64 channel mixer and 128 channel i/o routing (34 analog in’s and out’s).
If there is nothing decent come next year, then I will install Windows 11, via a Microsoft approved, registry setting, since a later OS, may work well so I am hopeful the V15 product cycle is complete by that time.
I had a lot of similar problems with Cubase 14 pro. In the end I swallowed my pride and asked Chat GPT (free version). It was absolutely brilliant and solved all my problems. And the good news is that it won’t give up until your problem is solved. It totally understands Cubase and your computer whatever it is.
I’ve still got a few days left on my Nuendo 14 trial, and I am going to try Cubase 15, for OmniVoice, but it will be good to gauge stability, in relation to the latest version of either DAW.
