Punch in deleting part of previous bar

Hi,
I’m not sure what I am doing wrong but when I punch in to a track (the last time it was a midi track) the punch in goes fine but for some reason it deletes half a bar before the punch in, is there a trick to this? Everything I have seen and read does not show this happening.

I have had the same issue in the past with punching in and out of audio, so I keep having to re-record the entire track in one take which makes life hard, I really want to use the punch in and out feature.

When I punch in I set the cursor a few bars ahead and play along with the track so I am in time etc, when I get to the marker the punch in works fine , its not till I stop the recording do I see the notes previous to the punch in point have gone (I use the replace option).

If you can help it would be much appreciated. Oh I’m using Cubase 7.5.

Thanks

Did you ever solve this?? I am doing the trial of Nuendo 10 and it’s happening to me too…
